A letter from Mireille, owner/chef BentoSprout:

Cooking has always been my passion, but I never thought I'll do it as my profession.

So here's how everything happened.  

I grew up in Japan eating my mom’s bento. I loved my lunch because uncovering the bento box and discovering the colorful, wholesome foods inside was just like opening a treasure chest. Time to time my mom sneaked in a little dessert which made my day.

In 2009, I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area following my dream to become a scientist. I loved my job, but not the meeting lunches. I was tired of eating same tasting sandwiches again and again. I didn't want to see the giant cookie as dessert because I knew I would eat up the whole thing only to feel embarrassed later that I've overloaded myself with fat and sugar.

It was one night when I was preparing my daughter's bento box for the next day that a light bulb went off my head: A healthy bento (with a little dessert enough to sweeten your day!) would be a perfect lunch solution for office and anywhere else that will keep you energized and feel great throughout the day.

I founded BentoSprout with the vision to make healthy delicious Bento accessible to everyone, and to create little happy moments in our busy daily lives.
